
‘CM might announce release of salaries’
SNS, Darjeeling, 22 October 2013: Amid various surprises the Chief Minister would announce for the Hills in her visit to Darjeeling, the Hills unit of the TMC hinted is the release of the salaries of the employees the state government has withheld due to the recent GJMM agitation of Gorkhaland.”
Mr Binny Sharma, spokesperson of the Trinamul Congress, said: “The chief minister has always stood for the people of the Hills but the recent agitation where the GJMM asked the employees to stay away from work, where many were even stopped from attending offices, the state government had to impose penalty. But the chief minister Miss Mamata Banerjee will definitely have good news for the employees in the public gathering at Chowrasta on 24 October,” Mr Sharma said.
According to Mr Sharma, many employees affiliated to the GJMM will be joining the Trinamul Congress during the chief minister visit to Kurseong on Wednesday.
He reiterated that about 4,000 people from the Hills will join the TMC during the three-day visit of the chief minister in the Hills.
Mr Sharma today pointed out that the nominated members affiliated to the Trinamul Congress who had attended today’s occasion to facilitate the deputy chief of the GTA as the acting chief executive, had opposed the sabha’s stance of releasing salaries from the GTA fund.
He said: “Our nominated members at the meeting of the GTA opposed the sabha’s stance to release the salary of the employees as they were trying to undercut the state government’s order.”
Meanwhile, Mr Sharma said the party welcomes Mr Ramesh Alay as the new acting chief executive of the GTA.
He added: “The Trinamul Congress will always keep a close watch if the duties of the GTA are being properly conducted. We will also demand that a social audit committee be formed to check the work performed by the GTA.”
