Only offices will remain open on 9th and 10th September
KalimNews, Kalimpong, 8 September 2013: The teachers and students frontal wings of GJM decided to keep the schools and colleges closed till 12th September.
Classes will resume as decided earlier from 13th September. The joint meeting of the Teachers (JSTO and GPTO) and students (GJVM) union decided that only the offices of the educational institutes will remain open along with the governmental and non-governmental offices, Samir Sotang, Secretary of GJVM stated.
The meeting was held due to a confusion arose in the matter of opening of schools on 9th and 10th September after a statement was made by Roshan Giri, General Secretary of GJMM.
Meanwhile, today Ashoke Periwal arrested from Siliguri was produced in the ACJM court at Kalimpong. Periwal, a businessman was arrested by police for attacking Gautam Deb on his visit to Kalimpong on 12th February. The court granted bail for the charge on paying a fine of Rs 5000 bail.
He was also arrested for attacking and damaging Tista Check Post on 5th August when Ramesh Lama member GTA was arrested.
Periwal was also arrested for supplying ration and clothes to GLP camp in Gorubathan along with Bimal Gurung and financially helping GLP and GJM. He was granted 14 days' Judicial remand and asked by ACJM to reproduce him on 21st September. The police was also asked by the ACJM to deposit CD as evidence of the charges.
