Festive buzz missing in hills...Police re-arrests lady GJM leader

SNS, Darjeeling, 22 September: The festival season is around the corner and the excitement that comes along with it during this time of the year is missing in Darjeeling.
A local clothes trader, Mr Bishnu Sharma, said: “By now, the town would have always looked colourful but those days are yet to arrive. The reason could be the effect of the one-and-a-half month bandh that had brought everything in Darjeeling Hills to a standstill.”
He added that most of the people in the Hills are either tea garden workers or government employees and as both these sectors are presently going through a crisis because of bonus issues and non-payment of salaries by the State Government, business will be affected hugely.
Gorubathan police re arrested Nari Morcha central committee member Kavita Gurung last night who was arrested on 12 September with party supporter Usha Lama.
Gurung will be produced in the court today.
In the last incident both of them were however, released on bail later after being presented at the Kalimpong ACJM court. Gurung and Lama were arrested on charges of obstructing TMC leader KN Subba from entering Gorubathan, obstructing police work and participating in road blockades.
