Extortionists arrested in Kalimpong

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 7 September 2013: 2 persons were arrested by Kalimpong police against a case of extortion.

They were arrested in connection with a case of demanding Rs 5 lakh from Ajay Agarwal bureau chief of Himalay Darpan's Kalimpong branch bureau office. Some miscreants were threatening Agarwal for publishing a false report in the Nepali daily and demanding money and a FIR was lodges against them.

Both were arrested in under IPC section 348, 34 and in another case under section 143,186,353 and 506 of IPC. Both the arrested alleged extortionists were presented in the ACJM Court in Kalimpong and sent to 14 days’ judicial custody after they were denied bail. Their case will be next heard on September 21.

Meanwhile Ashoke Periwal alias Munna is arrested by Kalimpong police in charge of financing GJM.
