Common platform a must for further movement..... Time for hill party to come out sincere

Vivek Ghatani, KalimNews, August 7: The agitation for Gorkhaland is not a new one. The aspiration of the hill people in context to the demand was well in their heart despite all chaos and Mamata Banerjee saying that the hills were smiling. 

This cannot be ruled out forever. 

Given that the formation of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) was not the choice of the people has now become evident and that the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) who is one of the signatories in the GTA agreement had not taken the consent of the masses before signing the agreement has been exposed. 

If the pro-Gorkhaland comments on the social networking sites are any indication at all that the people of the hills wants nothing short of Gorkhaland, then it is necessary for the GJM which is spearheading the renewed movement now to come out sincere and follow the right path. 

Over the past weeks where the state government and the GJM has been battling out amongst each other, a sense of feeling among the political observers have cropped in that a negotiation may again cramp the ongoing agitation. 

A self immolation act by a non-Gorkha in Kalimpong who died recently at a private nursing home is a testimony that people are serious in the hills to achieve the demand. It is time and now that the so called literates take the charge and set a platform from where the demand can be reached to the highest peak. 

The people cannot leave all in the hands of a single leader because in politics there is always a space for negotiation. A negotiation ultimately will once again crush the aspiration of the hill people. However, with agitation coming in the form of an indefinite bandh a question does arise as how effective this form of agitation would be to attain the demand. 

Other forms of agitation are also equally important to take forward the demand. And for this an intellectual bunch should surely sit and draw the plan for further course of action. 

Of course, it’s a big question again whether the GJM wants intellectuals in their side or not. But in the context of Gorkhaland it is mandatory, keeping aside all fear and protocol, a platform is essential comprising of bestest political leaders, in both of positions and opposition and intellectuals so that the agitation from here goes forward. 

Fingers crossed and expecting the best for the final battle till then!!!!!!!
