BSNL broadband in hills affected
KalimNews, Kalimpong: Since 4pm of Thursday the two exchanges of Gorubathan and Mirik are down and all the telephone exchanges under Kalimpong have no connection of BSNL broadband and internet connection.
It is assumed that due to disconnection or snapping of optical fibre cables (OFC) connection failure in Gorubathan and Mirik area BSNL broadband connection is effected in the hills including Kalimpong.

BSNL telephone and broadband in the Kalimpong is worse affected. It is reported that Telephone exchange of Darjeeling was also disturbed but is diverted through an alternative route.
Due to the ongoing indefinite strike called by GJM the restoration work could not be done, a BSNL official told Kalimpong. It is reported that unless the GJM workers are allowed to work during the strike by the GJM, OFC cable cannot be restored.
