Bagrakote GP formed by TMC despite of GJM majority
KalimNews, Bagrakote, 14 Aug 2013: Bagrakote Gram Panchayat under Malbazar Block was formed today by TMC despite of GJM having the majority. The reason was the GJM elected members of the GP arrived late on the day of board formation in the GP Office.
Though GJM leaders, insisted that their representatives arrived in the election venue on time but the police posted in the venue didnot allow them to participate in the board formation.
Protesting the denial of their participation in the Panchayat board formation GJM supporters blocked the National Highway 31 at Mina More for a few hours.
In the Panchayat election 10 candidates of GJM-JMM alliance were declared elected in the 20 seat, while the TMC bagged nine seats and the CPM one seat in the Bagrakote Gram Panchayat.
As the GJM-JMM alliance was sort of a seat for the board formation while negotiation with CPM was almost assured with positive support.
Saraki Mohapatra DM Jalpaiguri said the matter is not come into his knowledge but if the GJM submits a written complaint it will certainly be looked over and sorted out.
Binod Ghatani General Secretary of Western Dooars alleged that TMC has illegally made this attempt and we will certainly raise the matter to the district magistrate.
