Publication of half-yearly results on hold
SNS, Darjeeling, 10 July : Primary schools under the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) may not be able to issue this years' half-yearly examination progress reports of students, due to be published at the end of this month.
This has been ordered by the GJMM affiliate Gorkha Primary Teachers organisation (GPTO) ~ Hill's body of the primary teachers ~ who have also alleged that the progress reports of the primary schools that function under the GTA board is still being published under the banner of Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council (DGHC), the former board of the Hill's primary schools.
“We have asked all the teachers not to distribute the report until the GTA rectifies the error,” said Mr Rajen Thapa, the president of GPTO.
There are 775 primary schools that come under GTA control.
Mr Thapa said: “We had raised the issue with the education department of the GTA before. Although they had assured to resolve the issue, so far we have not heard anything from them.”
It has been learnt from one of the primary teachers that the mark-sheets of the students who have taken the half-yearly examination, is ready and it only needs to be enrolled in the actual progress report.
The GTA executive member, Mr Roshan Giri, who also leads the education department, asserted to resolve the issue.
Mr Giri told The Statesman: “I learnt about this just today. I have asked the secretary of the department to print the reports with the GTA banner."
