Mamata focus on Alipurduar?

SNS, Siliguri, 11 July 2013:Keeping an eye on the proposed Alipurduar district and to capture the new zilla parishad, to be formed after results, chief minister Miss Mamata Banerjee will address only one rally for rural poll campaigning at Alipurduar in Jalpaiguri district tentatively on 22 July.
Party sources said that Trinamul supremo Mamata Banerjee will not campaign for rural polls in Jalpaiguri sub-division area.
“The Trinamul party chief Mamata-di would campaign for rural polls only at Alipurduar in Jalpaiguri district tentatively on 22 July,” said Jalpaiguri district Trinamul Congress president, Mr Chandan Bhowmik. Notably, the chief minister Mamata Banerjee, addressing a government’s programme in Cooch Behar on 11 July 2012, had announced that a separate Alipurduar district would start functioning soon carving out Jalpaiguri district.
Though a process was started to form a separate Alipurduar district, the procedure of administrative reforms was stalled midway. From administration sources, it was learnt that the state was not interested in a separate Alipurduar district before rural polls to avoid formation of the Alipurduar zilla parishad comprising the existing elected members.
“Had the state declared separate district and formed separate Alipurduar zilla parishad, the board would have been controlled by the CPI-M-backed Left Front,” sources said adding, “Miss Banerjee did not want to offer the opportunity to existing elected members in Alipurduar sub-division to form the new zilla parishad board.”
Since then Mamata Banerjee instructed party leaders to strengthen the organisation in Alipurduar sub-division and constituted two separate committees for two political districts ~Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar.
Even the Trinamul Congress started keeping in touch with leaders associated with the GJMM, mainstream ABAVP and its splinter group. Finally, the MLA from Kalchini, Mr Wilson Champramari, who was elected with the support of the GJMM, joined the Trinamul Congress recently. Mr Champramari is now overseeing the party organisation in Alipurduar sub-division for rural polls.
