Cannabis seized, two held
SNS, In a major haul, The BSF North Bengal Frontier, in a joint operation with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized cannabis of 2,330.575 kg (116 bags) and two persons were held in this connection yesterday.
“It is one of the major caches in the recent past. The value of the seized items is approximately Rs 1.15 crore. The driver and the co-driver have been apprehended. The lorry was coming from Dimapur in Nagaland and going towards Dalkhola,” said the deputy inspector general of the North Bengal Frontier, BSF, Mr Virendra Kumar at a Press meet at Kadamtala, the North Bengal BSF Frontier headquarters, today.
“The consignments were supposed to be sold in Bihar,” he said.
He added: "In front of the wind shield of the lorry, ‘On Army Duty’ was written so that nobody could doubt. However, it had no link with the Army."
According to sources, the accused persons have been identified as Chandan Mondal and Rakesh
Sharma.
