Chamling extends support to demand for Gorkhaland
SNS, SILIGURI, 7 JUNE: Iterating his stand, the Sikkim Chief Minister Mr Pawan Chamling said he supports the separate state of Gorkhaland demand.
"We completely support the Gorkhaland demand. However, it is up to the Centre to decide whether it would accept the demand,” Mr Chamling told reporters in Siliguri today.
Mr Chamling was in Siliguri to inaugurate a three day MCCS Gitanjali Mango festival.
Explaining the reason for his support, he said he was in favour of small states in the country.
"As much as the small states are formed, it will be good for the country. We will support if 50 small states are formed in
the country then the country will flourish, the states will prosper and develop. There will be good governance," Mr Chamling added.
Talking about his mission 'Pavitra Kranti' to transform the society, Mr Chamling said he wanted to popularise it in the country.
"If every one practices this then our region, our state, our country, thoughts, daily life would be developed a lot. Such a transformation is required.”
“There has been misuse of knowledge and science and technology in the country.”
“The unrest and violence which gripped the entire nation will be stopped. I follow Pavitra Kranty in my life," he said.
"Our revolution still continues. Our revolution is to enrich the financial strength and mind-set of the people. It is our holy revolution to develop the country through these thoughts," he said.
The chief minister also said the law and order situation in the state was satisfactory.
