TT, Siliguri, May 2: Saradha Group agents and employees in north Bengal today announced the formation of the Saradha Aikya Mancha to protect their collective interests in the face of allegations by Sudipta Sen that some of the agents had siphoned off money. 

“Since the chit fund scam has broken, we, the agents and employees associated with the group, are living under immense pressure,” said Abhijit Chakraborty, a regional manager of Saradha Group posted in Siliguri, on behalf of the Mancha. 

“For the past few days, Sudipta Sen has been claiming that funds collected from depositors were siphoned off and not deposited with the company. We are facing a new problem. Such reports have come to us as a shock as the agents have submitted their collections at the offices spread across north Bengal,” he said. 

According to the Mancha, there are around 30,000 agents of the Saradha Group in the six north Bengal districts. The Mancha would work across north Bengal and try to bring all agents, investors and employees under the forum. 

“Our common demand is the refund of deposits. We have started communicating with our colleagues in other north Bengal districts and would soon hold talks and meetings in different areas of the region,” an agent said.
