Gorubathan remained disturbed

KalimNews, Kalimpong: Tension prevailed in Gorubathan and GJM has called a bundh in the area in protest against the arrest of 11 person. Police has so far arrested 11 GJM supporters including some GLPs for the yesterdays incident in which a TMC leader was detained for hours disallowing his entry to his home in Gorubathan. TMC Vice President of the hill, Khus narayan Subba who was also a local area Councillor of the then DGHC, with the intervention of Police was later in the night moved away from the area safely. His house in Sombaray bazar was also attacked and damaged allegedly by GJM supporters in the night.
Kunal Agarwal Superintendent of Police Darjeeling said that 11 GJM supporters are arrested with arms for stopping the entry of Subba. He further stated that 6 GJM supporters and 5 GLP cadres were arrested for stopping the TMC workers accompanied by Subba in entering the area and creating tension. GJM supporters stopped TMC convoy and the total vehicular movement in the Lava road near Pandanra at Gorubathan in the afternoon till late evening.
Additional Police force is deputed in the area to control the situation and the area was deserted in the day time. All offices and banks remained closed today. 
Later in the evening, today police chased away some GJM supporters trying to demonstrate against the arrest. In the evening some senior GJM leaders visited the area to calm down its supporters. Senior police officials along with Songmit Lepcha, ASP Kalimpong is in the area to control the situation.
