TT, Darjeeling, Feb. 28: The district and session judge’s court here today ordered a two-day CBI remand for the five accused in Madan Tamang murder case and directed the agency to produce them in court tomorrow, giving the officers less than 24 hours to interrogate the arrested.
The CBI had picked up the five Gorkha Janmukti Morcha leaders on February 15 and they were remanded in judicial custody. Although today’s order, passed at 1.30pm, states that the accused have been remanded for February 28 and March 1, they will have to be produced in court at 10.30am tomorrow.
Of the five, three are in Darjeeling, two in Siliguri. The CBI will have to travel to Siliguri which will take three hours.
