Woman Rescued After 10 Days of Being Trapped :Chinese National Rescued

PTI, September 5, 2026, Nuwakot (Nepal): A 60-year-old woman was pulled out alive from the top floor of a four-storey house, where she was trapped for 10 days, buried under mud and debris after the devastating flash floods, in Bidur town in Nepal’s Nuwakot district, officials said.

In a video shared by Nepal Police on social media, rescuers can be seen digging through mud and sludge, before they pull out the woman, identified as Chandika Shrestha, through a window on the top floor of her house.

The woman, who was found unconscious, could be seen in the video slowly gaining consciousness, as rescuers covered her with a blanket and a jacket. PTI, September 5, 2026, Kathmandu: A Chinese national was rescued on Saturday from a hydropower tunnel in Nepal's flood-hit Rasuwa district, 10 days after the project was hit by devastating floods.

The man, identified as Luhaitao, was trapped inside Audit Tunnel 4 of the flood-affected Upper Trishuli 1 Hydropower Project.

"A joint rescue team comprising the Nepali Army and foreign rescuers has rescued a Chinese national, Luhaitao, from inside a tunnel at the Upper Trishuli-1 Hydropower Project,” the Nepali Army said following the rescue on Saturday.

“Luhaitao was rescued from a point approximately 225 metres inside the tunnel. His health is currently being assessed, while search and rescue operations are continuing.”

Luhaitao was rescued at 1.30 pm on Saturday from the site in the Nuwakot district.
