All AAY Ration Cards in Darjeeling Hills Fully Restored and Activated Following Chief Minister’s Intervention- MP Raju Bista

KalimNews, 21 July 2026,  All Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) ration cards in the Darjeeling hills have reportedly been fully restored and reactivated following directions from West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari.

Darjeeling Lok Sabha MP Raju Bista, in a statement issued on Monday, expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Adhikari for taking prompt action on the issue.

The matter came to light after concerns were raised by daily wage earners, senior citizens, women’s groups, students, Public Distribution System (PDS) dealers, BJP Darjeeling and alliance partners, along with several social organisations, regarding the sudden deactivation of AAY ration cards in the hills.

Bista said he personally approached the Chief Minister and requested immediate intervention to resolve the issue and ensure that vulnerable families were not deprived of essential food security benefits.

According to the MP, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari responded swiftly and issued necessary instructions, following which all AAY ration cards in the Darjeeling hills were restored and made active again.

Bista said the decision would provide significant relief to economically weaker and vulnerable families in the region and strengthen food security for those who depend on the public distribution system.

“The West Bengal Government remains fully committed to the welfare of the people of the hills,” Bista said, while appreciating the Chief Minister’s prompt response and people-oriented approach.

He also appealed to all AAY card holders and residents to share this important information with their family members, neighbours, and friends so that every beneficiary remains aware of the development.

Confirming the restoration of the ration cards, Darjeeling District Magistrate Harishankar Panicker stated that, following the directions of Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, all AAY (Antyodaya Anna Yojana) ration cards in the Darjeeling hills would remain fully active.

“The West Bengal Government is completely committed to the welfare of the people living in the hill areas and continues to focus on the special needs and overall development of residents of Darjeeling and Kalimpong. Ensuring food security for every family in the hills and providing necessary support remains one of the government’s top priorities,” Panicker said.

The restoration of the AAY ration cards is expected to bring relief to many families who rely on these benefits for their daily food requirements and reflects continued efforts to address public concerns through timely administrative action.
