Kunal Ghosh Seeks Investigation Into Alleged Links of Accused in Egg-Pelting Case
On Monday at around 6:30 pm, Ghosh had stopped to speak to reporters outside the residence when a man, later identified as Chandan, allegedly threw an egg at him from close range.
Another person, identified as Ravi Kayal, was reportedly filming the incident.
Although Ghosh attempted to duck, the egg struck his head and broke on impact.
Subsequently, Ghosh lodged a complaint with Kalighat Police Station, following which a case was registered against the duo under charges of unlawful assembly; every member of an unlawful assembly being guilty of an offence committed in prosecution of a common object; acts endangering life or personal safety of others; voluntarily causing hurt; and assault or use of criminal force with intent to dishonour a person, otherwise than on grave provocation.
On Tuesday, Ghosh wrote on his social media profile: “I got the news that two egg revolutionaries, Chandan Singh and Ravi Kayal, have been arrested in yesterday’s egg heroism. I called the police station and they also said they were arrested.
The fear is that the police will get him bail today under a minor section. I told the police station that that will not work.
The miscreant who went to Mamata Banerjee’s house as a witness during the CID search is attacking her in front of her house. This allegation also needs an investigation.”
