Morcha cautions people on Bimal calls

SNS, Kurseong, 25 December 2018: In a bid to clarify things and make people aware of the ongoing police raids and phone calls centering fugitive leader of the Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha (GJMM,Bimal Gurung) the BinoyTamang faction of the Morcha has started holding meetings with its frontal wings in Kurseong.
Talking to reporters, the GJMM's Kurseong sub-division spokesperson. Days Dewan, said that there are several-misconceptions' among party activists and the general public in the Hills centering the ongoing police raids and activities of the police.
The party's Kurseong town committee and women's wing from all the 20 wards of the Kurseong Municipality held a meeting at their party office in Kurseong town, where they discussed issues like the present political scenario of Darjeeling Hills and a number of internal issues, and the party's future programmes.
"With the advent of the GJMM (Binoy Group) in the Hills and after taking charge of the GTA, several development works have been carried out in the Hills. At the same time, measures have been taken on different aspects to solve unemployment problems in the region. Not only this, peace has prevailed." Mr Dewan said.
"However, taking advantage of the present phone calls by the Bimal camp as well as the ongoing police raids, some people are trying to provoke supporters against Binoy Tamang and Anit Thapa. People are spreading rumours, stating that the police activities are being taken up under
the direction of these two leaders, but they are totally baseless. Issues related to Bimal Gurung and his associates are in the court and all of them are legal matters. They are absconders and people cannot blame the present GJMM leadership. The police administration is acting against Bimal and his group and people should not entertain calls from such groups or the leadership," he added.
Mr Dewan further said that in the meeting, they also made an appeal to the women members to not respond nor entertain GJM leader Bimal Gurung's phone calls.
He also maintained that police are presently raiding the Hills to tap the alleged phone calls made by Mr Gurung and his associates.
Mr Dewan also maintained that he has suggested that the party's women activists immediately contact the police if they receive such calls. "People should be made aware of the matter. Moreover, people should themselves understand these political propagandas and should not entertain them furthermore," Mr Dewan said.
