Chandra Bose - An interlocutor for Gorkhaland issue

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 14 July 2017: Chandra Kumar Bose grand nephew of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and grandson of Sarat Chandra Bose is now regarded as a mediator between the government and the Gorkhas to solve the Gorkhaland demand impasse.
56  year old Bose has affinity towards Gorkhas as his great uncle Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose had.
Recently he showed his interest in the agitation of Gorkhaland and was vocal in the social network as well as in the media. He even disclosed of contacting of both the PM Narendra Modi and GJM President Bimal Gurung.
He also happens to be Vice President of West Bengal BJP and he calls himself a rights activist and messiah to eradicate corruption.
Recently referring and addressing the concerned persons specially Bimal Gurung, Narendra Modi, Mamata Banerjee and SS Ahluwalia, he tweeted regarding the Gorkha and Gorkhaland issue of Darjeeling hills as follows:
14 July: Peace in Darjeeling can be achieved through talks, keeping differences aside for larger interest of the people.
13 July: Darjeeling is a feast to the eyes and comfort to the soul! Peace talks must take place immediately. Hill issue can be resolved through dialogue.
9 July: Govt should start the dialogue with the GJM. Blame game will not work:

25 June: My grandfather-#Sarat Chandra Bose used to have a house at Giddapahar Kurseong. My great uncle- #Netaji spent memorable moments in this house.

17 June: Friends do I go to Darjeeling to resolve  #Gorkhaland Crisis? @narendramodi @rajnathsingh @SSAhluwaliaMP @KailashOnline
15 June: Violence must stop in the hills.State admin instead of trying to defuse the situation are inciting locals to get violent.@SSAhluwaliaMP
14 June: Left Front & TMC govt allowed situated to escalate to danger levels. TMC GOVT can't use force on hill people. Immediate dialogue is solution.
14 June: uniindia.com/gurung-thanks-netaji-kin-chandra-kumar-bose-shutdown-enters-third-day/other/news/901067.html … We have to win them over by giving respect & recognition. You cannot force anyone to be part of the Bengal family.
14 June: m.economictimes.com/news/politics-and-nation/subhas-chandra-boses-grandnephew-chandra-kumar-bose-demands-respect-for-gorkhas/articleshow/59140958.cms … Both Left Front & TMC govt unfairly treated the @Gorkhas. First give them respect & a sense of belongingness @BimalGjm
13 June: Give #Gorkhas respect! Capt.Ram Singh Thakure a Gorkha of the INA composed #KadamKadamBadayeja. #Netaji gave them respect. @BimalGjm
13 June: You have to win over the Gorkhas by giving them respect & identity-& not by the stick. #Gorkhas are warriors who fought for India's freedom.

Now due to various reasons it has become clear either Bose is going to be appointed an interlocutor to mediate between the Gorkhas and the union Government or he is informally appointed an interlocutor and has been functioning in the process. Untill and unless his function and responsibility is announced officially his position will not be clear but as a well wisher of Gorkhas his effort should be acknowledged gratefully.

Before joining BJP in January 2016 he had said , “I have been talking to the BJP leadership and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for nearly two years now. The BJP is a nationalist party and I come from a family of nationalists. So I thought the BJP was the ideal party for me to join. Netaji believed in social and cultural harmony and the time has come when people should know about his legacy and ideology,” said Chandra Kumar Bose soon after the party announced that he will contest against Banerjee as Chief ministerial candidate

Regarding Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in a report published by Gyan Varma in livemint he said, “My father Amiya Nath Bose had spent a lot of time with Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. The two of them had shared a same bedroom for six years. So I grew up listening to stories of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Every evening after dinner, my father used to spend at least two hours talking about Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose,” .

Bose further had said that he wanted to join politics because the Congress party obliterated the ideology and legacy of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised him that the BJP will help mainstreaming the ideology championed by “Netaji”.

“Netaji believed in political, economic and social freedom. During our discussions, Narendra Modi has told me that the BJP will revive the message and legacy of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. The social fabric of the country is at stake, we have to bring back the heritage, culture and history of the country. India got political freedom but never got social and economic freedom,” said Chandra Kumar Bose.

Interestingly, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government had declassified 100 files on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on 23 January, the day Chandra Kumar Bose joined the BJP in a public meeting in Howrah.

Bose obtained the Degree in economics from Hendrix College London in 1982, Chandra Kumar Bose joined Tata Management Training Centre in Jamshedpur (Jharkhand). He soon returned to Kolkata as a marketing executive and in his 18-year long association with the Tata group, he became the area sales manager. He left the company in the year 2000 and started his own company, Bose Information Technology Pvt. Ltd, which provides consultancy in human resource and skill development.

Though he does not belong to the neutral group as he belongs to a community of Bengal and a political party of the centre, even though he might be keeping their side he has love, respect and sympathy for Gorkhas and understands their cause so Gorkhas believe that considering their rights, necessity, demand, grievance and the need of the hour he will mediate with the union government as well as the state and will conclude the crisis positively.
