CM leaves for Cooch Behar, Alipurduar tour todayMP | 23 April 2017 11:20 PM | Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be setting out for her tour to Cooch Behar and Alipurduar on Monday where she will be holding administrative review and public meetings and is expected to announce benefits to both the districts.

She will be holding the administrative review meeting for Cooch Behar district on April 24 and the next day she will be holding the public meeting. Again on April 26, the Chief Minister will be heading the administrative review meeting of Alipurduar district. On April 27, Banerjee will distribute benefits among people of Alipurduar and address a gathering.

According to the sources, the Chief Minister is going to announce different new projects for both the districts in the public rallies and at the same time she will also be inaugurating many projects.

In the administrative review meetings, the Chief Minister will be taking stock of the progress of the ongoing projects. Thus, officials in the district are busy in keeping themselves updated as they might have to give reply to questions related to progress of work of different projects to the Chief Minister.

In Cooch Behar, Banerjee will be inaugurating several new projects including some newly-built hostels, administrative buildings and bridges. It may be mentioned that the Chief Minister had given instructions to the officials to take up necessary steps to ensure timely completion of projects. Thus, the Chief Minister would also go through the details to find out whether the projects have been completed on time.

It may be mentioned that the state government had taken up all necessary steps to ensure an overall development of Alipurduar district that came into existence as the 20th district in June 2014.

In the last administrative meetings in both the districts, the Chief Minister had reviewed the projects including those that were taken up for development for the enclaves that came under the Indian territory in 2014. Thus, this time too she will be taking stock of the progress of the work taken up for the enclaves.

Senior police officers in both the districts were busy beefing up the security arrangements to avoid any untoward incident during the Chief Minister's visit. Policemen were posted outside the venue of the administrative review meeting and frisking operations were being carried out by officers of both the bomb squad and dog squad on Sunday.

Police will also be posted on the thoroughfares through which the Chief Minister's convoy will be passing.
