Governor underscored the negative impact of demonetisation

TT, February 3 : Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi on Friday underscored the negative impact of demonetisation and also mentioned "intolerance" while reading out a speech drafted by the Mamata Banerjee government at the start of the Assembly's budget session.
"Demonetisation has had its own effect in West Bengal. A large number of people faced hardship and sufferings. The state government apprehends a substantial fall in revenue income. Lakhs of workers have lost their jobs and livelihood," Tripathi, a former Uttar Pradesh BJP chief, stated in his address.
Mentioning the impact on small and medium industries, the governor drew attention to the plight of farmers, cooperatives and the salaried class because of the cash crunch.
"My chief minister has left no stone unturned in her untiring effort to keep the morale of the people high in these trying times," Tripathi added.
"The administration is alert so that harmony and peace is maintained throughout the state in times of provocation and intolerance," he said later.
