DENGUE GRIPS KALIMPONG
SNS, Kalimpong 21 October 2016: The locals are panic stricken after NS 1 test report (the preliminary test for the suspected Dengue patient) of at least a dozen suspected dengue affected patients have come positive.
Subsequently, Kalimpong Hospital has sent three of the dengue suspected patients blood test to Siliguri District Hospital for diagnosis. Two out of three patients are from Mission compound from the same family while one is from Reshambari, as learnt.
Meanwhile, authorities have started corn bating the possible menace and flogging was done along ward no 10 of Kalimpong Municipality after much suspected dengue outbreak in Kalimpong, at large.
It is to be noted here that Kalimpong hospital lacks the NS1 test facility Patients with symptoms of dengue have to visit a private lab test for Ns1 antigen. SDMO Kalimpong Hospital Ankan Simlangdi said, "We don't have the facility but what he can do is send the patient's blood samples for Elisa Test to either Siliguri District Hospital or the NBMCH."
Speaking with media persons on Thursday in this regard, ACM0H in charge Dr Murtaza and SDM Kalimpong Hospital, A Simlangdi stressed, "Hilly environment in here is not favorable for aedes mosquito. Contrary to that, a patient who was in Kalimpong before he was tested positive has stressed that he had not visited anywhere and alleged that he got infected with dengue here in Kalimpong.
Again, her 1 yr old daughter was also tested positive in the NS1 test.
Meanwhile in another private hospital herein, at least 8 patient's with NS1 positive borne report has been admitted.
According to sources many blood reports of visiting patient's has been tested positive for NS1. We are diagnosing clinically weather they are precisely tested positive for Dengue or not. These patients have been kept inside mosquito nets, as reported.
