9 persons (1 month old child die of Covid); 440 in Darj, 33 in Darj Hills, 176 in Plains, 310 in SMC test positive, 98 admitted in Covid Block of NBMCH

Out of 2233 tests done 284 test positive,  141 recovered from Covid-19. 

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 5 May 2021: Reports received and collected regarding testing and treatment of Covid patients in the different Hospitals of North Bengal including Darjeeling district and Gorkhaland Territorial Administration during the last 24 hours is as follows:

9 Death:

Janaki Singha Barua, 1 month 2 days old child patient of Bara Kharia Coochbehar died today in NICU of Covid Ward of NBMCH. Was admitted on 27 April.

Gopimaya Tamang, 58 yr old patient of Tindharia Kurseong died today in Female Medicine 1 Ward of NBMCH.

Subal Das, 65 yr old patient of Dasarath Palli Siliguri died today in Male Medicine 2 Ward of NBMCH.

Nanibala Burman, 55 yr old patient of Tiknikata Sushrutnagar Siliguri died today in Female Medicine 1 Ward of NBMCH.

Kali Ranjan Ghose, 75 yr old patient of Shivmandir Siliguri died today in Male Medicine 1 Ward of NBMCH.

Jugal Chandra Niyogi, 79 yr old patient of Berhampur died today in a nursing home at Sevoke Road Siliguri.

Devjani Mullick, 65 yr old patient of New Town Jalpaiguri died today in a nursing home at Sevoke Road Siliguri.

Pritvi Raj Jha, 43 yr old patient of Raigunj Uttar Dinajpur died today in a nursing home at Sevoke Road Siliguri.

Raj Kumari SIngh, 70 yr old patient of Gurung Busty Siliguri died today in a nursing home at Pradhan Nagar Siliguri.

Test report received from Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) at NBMCH

Total number of swab samples received for Reverse Transcription (RTPCR) Tests from the districts of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar is 

2233. Of these 284 samples test positive.

310 in SMC

310 of Siliguri Municipality Corporation (231 in Darjeeling and 79 in Jalpaiguri districts) test positive. 

440 in Darjeeling district:

Record 440 positive cases reported in the district of Darjeeling, of which 231 are from the area of Darjeeling district of the SMC. 

33 cases reported from the Darjeeling Hills (7 in Darjeeling Municipality, 11 in Kurseong Municipality, 6 in Mirik Municipality, 2 in Bijanbari, 6 in Sukhiapokhari, 1 in Takdah).

176 of the plains (102 in Matigara, 34 in Naxalbari, 6 in Khoribari, 9 in Phansidewa, 25 in Sukuna) also test positive.

98 patients in NBMCH

98 patients are being treated for Covid- 19 and suspected Covid- 19 infection in the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. Out of this 65 are admitted in the CCU unit of the Covid Block I and 15 in Covid Block II  (Chest & Cardiac Unit) of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH).(Capacity 203 seats) 

During the last 24 hours 18 patients are admitted in the Isolation Wards of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH). There are 5 patients in the Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU) ward, 10 in Gynecological Maternity Isolation ward and 3 in Isolation ward -1, but no patients in surgical isolation ward. 

141 Discharged:

141 patients have been released from Covid hospitals that also includes home isolation patients but excluding patients in private hospitals and army establishments.
