Adivasis slam government’s Gorkha policy

HT, 18 Jul 2016, SILIGURI: All Adivasi Sadri Susar Association (AASSA) has slammed the state government for its appeasement of Gorkhas and accused it of being negligent towards preservation of Sadri language spoken by them. 
The apex body also sent a memorandum to chief minister Mamata Banerjee, demanding inclusion of Sadri language in primary school curriculum. It also criticised that the state government for its appeasement of Rajbongshis, undermining the rights of majority Adivasis in Terai and Dooars. 
It also said that it will not oppose GJM in case it launches Gorkhaland movement in Terai and Dooars. Prasanta Lohara, the president of North Bengal unit of AASSA, said “If the state government can form several development boards in the hills and can set up Rajbonsi Academy in North Bengal, it should also form a Sadri Academy.”
