Neglect slur on doctor

TT, Siliguri: A Siliguri resident on Friday filed a complaint at Matigara police station, accusing a paediatrician of negligence in treatment and monetary gain that led to the death of his seven-year-old daughter who was suspected to have dengue.
Soumik Banerjee, the father, has alleged that the paediatrician had forced him to shift his daughter Saeesha a Class II student to Calcutta for commission.
Banerjee said his daughter had complained of fever and nausea on September 12 and she had been taken to a doctor in a chamber in Burdwan Road of the city.
On September 15, they admitted her to a private nursing home in Matigara as per the doctor's recommendation.
The doctor soon advised him to shift the girl to Calcutta for better treatment, said the father. Accordingly, she was shifted to the private nursing home in Calcutta, which is owned by the same corporate group that runs the nursing home in Matigara.
On September 16 night, Saeesha's conditions deteriorated and she died the next morning.
