TMC plans campaigns through social media

SNS | Siliguri | 19 At a time when the BJP has been campaigning through social media by appointing experts and investing huge amount of funds, the Trinamul Congress leadership plans to compete with its rival politically through the same means.
Trinamul leaders have been organizing workshops on “Important Role of Social Media’ in several districts as part of the campaigning through social media.
The Darjeeling district Trinamul Youth Congress recently organized such a workshop at the Mitra Sammilani Hall on Hill Cart Road in Siliguri.
Col Diptangshu Choudhury and Suparna Maitra were here to attend the workshop and they interacted with Trinamul workers.
The objective of the workshop was to bring “unruly party workers” under control and to educate workers about the ideology of the party chief and how she constituted her party.
Addressing the party workers, including students, Col Choudhury raised several questions from the practical political arena.
“Didi (Mamata Banerjee) never instructed a student to dishonor a teacher, but why a section of students losing patience and attacking teachers in colleges?”
Col Choudhury said, adding, “Shouting slogans like ‘Mamata Banerjee Zindabad,’ a section of the so-called party workers always keeps their eyes on personal interests. They also always run after power and posts. Are they party workers?”
“If you say ‘Maa Maati Manush Zindabad’ and ‘Mamata Banerjee Zindabad’ you have to study the party’s guidelines, Mamata Banerjee’s life and her thoughts and the government’s activities under her leadership. Each worker will have to study 38 state government programmes launched by Mamata Banerjee in the interest of the people, so that a party worker can guide locals and a beneficiary can apply easily for government’s schemes,” he said.
Citing several examples, Col Choudhury asked a few party workers why 21 July is important. Significantly, no one was able to answer it correctly.
Later, a 15-minute documentary was screened to inform them of 21 July and how Mamata Banerjee became a mass leader.
Party workers have been asked to follow the webpage of the party, Facebook page of party chief Mamata Banerjee and Youth Trinamul Congress chief Abhishek Banerjee.
Advocating digital transparency and revolution, he said workers can use ‘Visitors’ Post’ and can express their views, suggestions and even grievances.
He also pointed out the utility of the webpage named AITC Darjeeling and suggested them to upload party activities and information about government’s programmes like the Mamata- Chamling meet held at Uttarkanya on Friday.
Quoting Miss Banerjee, Col Choudhury said: “Mamata Banerjee says the present generation will take the responsibility of retaining the party for 20 years. The next generation, mainly the students, will have to take responsibility to retain power for 20 years more.”
