Journalist hit the streets of Siliguri protesting attacked on TV journalist

Prashant Acharya, EOI, SILIGURI, 8 Dec 2017: Hundreds of journalists hit the streets in Siliguri on Friday in protest against the attacked on Bidhan Nagar based TV journalist who was assaulted by a group of miscreants on Thursday.
Pikai Ghosh, a TV journalist from Bidhan Nagar near Siliguri was injured when he had gone to cover the news at Santoshi Vidyachakra School. The state government’s agricultural department had organized an agricultural fair at the school premises.
According to Ghosh loud speakers were used while the students of the same school were appearing for the annual examination. When he raised the issue a gang of people attacked on him.
Angshuman Chakraborty. General Secretary of Siliguri Journalist Club said, “Journalist are being attacked frequently and now we will not tolerate. No one has to teach journalist how to work, Journalist are well aware about their duty. We have filed written complaint at police station to arrest the culprits immediately.”
Journalist association from Dooars, Mirik, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling and other parts of the state have also condemned over the attack on journalist.
