GMCC to decide on opening of banks today

SNS, Darjeeling: Gorkhaland Movement Coordination Committee (GMCC) will decide tomorrow whether the banks would be allowed to open its branches in the Hills so that people can atleast start the emergency banking transaction for a few days.
People by now have been suffering from financial crisis and are facing problems to procure food due to the continuous indefinite strike in the Hills.
Speaking to the reporters, Darjeeling MLA Amar Singh Rai today said that the GMCC would finally decide whether the banks would be opened during the indefinite strike to ease the residents for a while.
The GMCC members will hold an emergency meeting to morrow though it was scheduled to be held on 18 July.The GMCC had held its fourth meeting at Pedong in Kalimpong on 6 July.
Mr Rai also said that the GMCC members, in its fourth meeting had discussed about the Way out of the present agitation.
"The present agitation will be called off if the Centre calls a 'meeting for talks,' Mr Rai said.
He also added: "My party has also made it clear that leaders would start a dialogue with the state but not executively with the state government. The Centre will interfere and there must he a tripartite dialogue."
"I dont know the exact reasons behind Darjeeling MP's absence and his reasons for not giving a visit here. People want to know his view and the Centre's observations."
"The MP could have briefed the agitating people about it.

The Darjeeling MP had called me up yesterday. The MP said that he was executing his work as per the party's instructions," said Mr Rai, adding, "Union home minister has briefed Prime Minister yesterday about present situation of Basirhat and Darjeeling."
The Gorkha JanMukti Morcha (GIMM) leader and MLA from Darjeeling Amar Singh Rai claimed that Violence is the voice of the Hill people since the Gandhian peaceful movement is unheard.
"When there is no way out, people have decided to take'do or die policy' Mr. Rai added_
He also criticised the in in Chief Minister's statement and said that it was not correct that the leaders have stored food for themselves paying no heed to the common people and have left the common people to die without food during the agitation.
The state has prevented people from procuring food for the Hills including Sikkim from plains, he added.
