Reactioons galore from various leaders after fresh agitation in Hills

Prashant Acharya, EOI, SILIGURI, 15 Jun 2017: Reactions kept coming in from the various political leaders after fresh agitation by the GJM.
Dilip Ghosh, BJP West Bengal chief on Thursday said, “A tripartite meeting should be called immediately to tackle the situation of the hills instead of using forces. The situation became violent because of the failure of the state government by concentrating more on politics then maintaining peace.”
Adhir Choudhury, Congress West Bengal chief said, “Everyone knows that Trinamool Congress comes in number one position in stocking of firearms and bombs. The state government is responsible for the situation in the hills due to chief minister’s ego.”
Ashok Bhattacharya, CPM veteran and Siliguri Mayor, “We don’t support the formation Gorkhaland while we were in government but now Trinamool Congress totally failed to maintain peace in Hills by its aggressive attitude. All party meeting should be called as soon as possible.”
Gautam Deb, West Bengal Tourism minister, “The violent agitation is not acceptable in democracy for which the development of hills will go back. Law is there to oversee the situation and take appropriate course of actions against those involved in damaging government properties and attacks on media and police.”
Rajen Mukhia, hill TMC chief said, “It is time for all parties to restore peace. GJM can carry out a democratic movement but their intention is different. What was the purpose of keeping so many bows and arrows and a huge amount of money in their office?”
Asha, Nari Morcha leader and wife of Bimal Gurung said, “Police and Trinamool Congress supporters entered our house and set a car on fire around 2pm today. They found a few bows and arrows, rusted spades and fire crackers - all tools found in local households. We were in the process of organising our traditional archery competition.”
