Gautam's close aide sparks debate with FB post seeking stoppage of medical treatment to patients from Sikkim

Prashant Acharya, EOI, SILIGURI, 27 Jun 2017: Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and close friend of tourism minister Goutam Deb, Madhu Sudan Adhikary has demanded to stop medical treatment for the patients of Sikkim in Bengal’s private and government hospitals.
Adhikary has posted a post in his facebook account on 25th June at 5:29 pm which is becoming viral among the people of hills and plains. He has posted the matter in Bengali language which reads: “Medical treatment for all the patients coming from Sikkim should be immediately stopped at all the nursing homes, hospitals and medical college and hospital immediately.” “Being a responsible leader how somebody can post such an objectionable matter in social media,” said CPM leader and former Rajya Sabha MP from Darjeeling Saman Pathak.
When asked to some of the owners and doctors of nursing homes in Siliguri whether they have received any instructions regarding Sikkim patients they said they haven’t received any official instructions neither from any individual. More than 30 percent of the patients coming to Siliguri for treatments are from Sikkim and how can we stop them for treatment, said a doctor of a private nursing home on condition of anonymity. When asked, the tourism minister said: “These kinds of post are against our party ethics, our party does not support such posts, those who are writing these kinds of lines that is their personal opinions.”
Adhikary’s post came after the support of Sikkim chief minister Pawan Chamling along with people from entire state for Gorkhaland. GJM leader from Terai, Santosh Rasaily strongly condemned the post made by Adhikary. He said: “This shows how much TMC leaders are against our community. What harm did Sikkim made to these people that they are so negative and attacking vehicles, threatening people and now not allowing patients of Sikkim for medical treatment. The chief minister of Sikkim should immediately take strong measures regarding these kinds of acts done by TMC goons.”
