Siliguri youths leap into fashion industry to make career

Prashant Acharya, EOI, SILIGURI,27 May 2017 : With the fashion business dominating culture, youths in Siliguri are attracted towards the glamorous fashion and film industry to make their career.
Fashions shows and contests that needed to get permission from Siliguri Sub-Division Officer for the dress-code a decade ago has become a regular event now with Indian and western outfits.
Within the short span of time Siliguri has changed a lot and the youth are opting to make their career in modeling to enter into film industry. Meet 24 years old Pooja Sunar, lawyer by profession had balanced dueling modeling and policy have decided to give the fashion industry a try. Pooja who passed LLB from North Bengal University in July 2016 has been into modeling since couple of months have already bagged 2nd runner up
position in recently held Miss Siliguri contest where Bollywood's eminent dance choreographer Remo D Souza was the chief judge of the event. She has also done shows Orange festival, Lohagarh, World Tourism Day Festival, Siliguri and many others.
She said, "My personal interest grew since teenage, so I started thinking, what else do I like doing? What has been a constant? What gets me excited? I’ve always loved fashion. My senior in the chamber Ganita Gurung Hossain encouraged me and I receive support from my parents and friends to join fashion industry. If I get better opportunity I can leap from my legal profession."
Pratik Pradhan who is from beautiful hill Mirik under Darjeeling district has already left his business and decided to make his career as a successful model and actor.
Pratik has become popular in Darjeeling hills for his modeling and acting after successful shows in India, Nepal and Bhutan. He has done photo-shoot for Bengali calendar, News Magazines, Boutique promotions and acted in few short Nepali movies and music videos. He also has participated in recently held Summer Fun Carnival with Remo D-Souza at Siliguri.
He said, "I was running my father's business but after completing my colleges decided to make my career in fashion industry for name and fame."
