TT, Siliguri, May 22: Over 70 educational institutions are slated to take part in the 14th Career Fair organised by the Sape Events & Media Pvt Ltd, in association with The Telegraph, at Gangtok, Darjeeling and Siliguri in the coming days to guide students on prospective courses and jobs.
"Tomorrow, the fair will be held at Chintan Bhavan in Gangtok. The venue of the event in Darjeeling is Bhanu Bhavan where it will be held on May 25. The fair will be for two days - on May 27 and 28 - in Siliguri. The venue is City Garden on Sevoke Road," said Sanjay Thapa, the founder and the managing director of Sape.
"This time, more than 70 reputed educational institutions from different parts of the country will set up stalls at the fair and answer to queries from students, career aspirants and guardians on the gamut of the courses they offer," he added.
Among the leading universities which will participate in the fair are Amity University, Lovely Professional University, Ajeenkya D.Y. Patil University, Sharda University and Dayananda Sagar University.
"There will be several other prominent institutions at the fair also. Altogether, students will have the option to know about 150 careers and courses," the Sape MD said.
The courses are on medicine, engineering, management, aviation, hospitality, pharmacy, tourism, biotechnology, information technology, mass communication, teaching and paramedics among others.
Another attraction at the event will be a lecture by Sandeep Sengupta, the director of the Indian School of Ethical Hacking in Bangalore. "A lot of people now want to know about ethical hacking and whether there are career options in this field. They can hear Sengupta and get more details," Thapa said.
At the event, the organisers said, students could avail themselves of free career counselling and aptitude tests which would enable them to find out in which areas they could excel.
"It is an important event as the results of Classes X and XII exams conducted by different state and central boards will be published soon. This is the right time for students to explore and select prospective courses which they intend to pursue," Thapa said.
