Yechury's barb, there is a tacit understanding between the BJP and Trinamul

TT, Siliguri, April 21: CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury today alleged that there was a tacit understanding between the BJP and Trinamul and both the parties had adopted a "carrot and stick" policy.

He said lengthy investigations by various central agencies into deposit companies was delaying the payment of compensation to affected people.

"There is a political understanding between the BJP and Trinamul. Both the parties have taken up a carrot and stick policy to maintain the relation. Some leaders of Trinamul are in jail now and for their interest, whenever the BJP requires support from Trinamul, the other party extends it," the CPM leader told a public meeting at Bagha Jatin Park here this afternoon.

The meeting was convened by the Darjeeling district Left Front in protest against alleged involvement of Trinamul leaders in corruption and against the Centre's policies.

Over 5,000 people were present at the meeting.
