After the arrest of Bhutta, Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) has again raised and demanded the immediate arrest of mastermind behind the the 2014 Assam & Darjeeling arms haul case.
Talking to the reporters, the GNLF spokesperson Mr Daya Dewan said that this is not the first time, instead, earlier too the GNLF had demanded the immediate arrest of the mastermind behind the incident.
And hence, immediately after the incident had taken place and surfaced in 2014, they had also demanded that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe the arms haul case.
Mr Dewan said that they are happy over the fresh development in the arms haul case but the main culprits of this arms haul case is yet to be unmasked and arrested. Hence, from the GNLF party, they have been again demanding an NIA probe into the incident.
He also informed that earlier, they had also sent letters to the hone minister and other central and state ministers over the matter. He further added that Darjeeling hills is surrounded by different international borders and such arms ammunitions haul cases are connected to four different states like Nagaland, Manipur, Assam and West Bengal. Hence, they have been demanding that the NIA probe the entire matter Moreover the mastermind of the case must be unmasked as such case has brought disrespect among the Gorkha community through such antinational acts.
He added that the Gorkha community' has always been committed towards the security of the nation but a few people have been busy trying to dishonour the entire community and spoil the peaceful atmosphere of Dar-eeling Hills.
Notably, Assam arms haul case took place on 8 November 2014 and after the arrest of the two accused, Ganesh Chettri and Umesh Kami, several shocking facts had surfaced during that time.
Several consignments of arms and ammunitions had already been brought into the Darjeeling Hills. Not only this, as per the reports, 15 GLP members had also visited Nagaland in 2011 for arms training.
Moreover, on 6 December 2014, the CID had also seized arms and ammunitions from 27 Mile area under Rangli Rangliot police station jurisdiction in Darjeeling Hills.
