ICSE, ISC schedule revised

TT, Jan. 13: The ISC examinations will start on January 30 instead of February 6 and ICSE on March 10 instead of February 27.
The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) today announced the revised schedule as some of the exam dates announced on December 1 last year were clashing with the Assembly poll roster in five states - UP, Uttarakhand, Goa, Punjab and Manipur.
The elections will be held in multiple phases between February 11 and March 4. There will be no ISC exam between February 9 and February 28. The ISC biology practical exam on February 8 will be the last test before the break. The ISC physics theory paper will be held on March 1.
Both exams will end later than originally scheduled: ISC on April 26 and ICSE on April 21. ISC was originally scheduled to end on April 5 and ICSE on March 31.
"Consequent to the dates for the Assembly Elections being announced for the states of Punjab, Goa, Manipur, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, the dates of the ISC and ICSE Year 2017 Examinations had to be rescheduled," Gerry Arathoon, the council chief executive and secretary said in a statement today.
The statement also says that the schedule of entrance examinations for professional courses has been taken into account while drawing up the revised ISC timetable.
The revised timetables were uploaded on the council's website ( www.cisce.org) today. Arathoon said copies of the timetables would also be sent to all affiliated schools for distribution among examinees.
Principals and teachers of some ICSE/ISC schools said they might face problems in starting the new academic session in April since the board exams would not be over till the end of that month.
This year, 1,76,327 students will write ICSE and 74,544 will write ISC.
