One arrested with 150 SIM cards

TT, Siliguri: Police have arrested Ranvijay Singh, a 33-year-old hailing from Siwan district in Bihar, from a house in Panitanki near the India-Nepal border after finding 150 SIM cards in his possession.

Amit P. Javalgi, the superintendent of police of Darjeeling, said Singh was a tenant for a few months at a house 40km from Siliguri town and had introduced himself as an electrical engineer to people in the locality. "We have found 150-odd SIM cards from Nepal and around 60 Indian SIM cards. Also, computers and some other electronic items have been seized," Javalgi said. "Our officers are questioning him for details. We are also trying to gather information about him from our counterparts in Bihar." Police sources said Singh's stay close to the India-Nepal border and his having so many SIM cards made the force suspicious. "It is unusual for an electrical engineer to stay in a rural area. Also, he had so many SIM cards of Nepal and India," the source said.
