Bagdogra airport hosts art gallery

EOI, SILIGURI, 24 Dec 2016: Like many airports of repute, Bagdogra Airport will now have a live art gallery, courtesy the International Travel Artists' Forum, showcasing the landscape, people, traditions and cultures of north Bengal, Sikkim, eastern Nepal and Bhutan. 
The gallery was inaugurated today by Bagdogra Airport Director R.K. Sahay who said their plans are on to have large panel paintings instead of photographs to represent the region He said the Airports Authority of India (AAI), with the sole aim of promoting local artists and painters, has opened a 'For Sale' art gallery at the airport. 
Twenty paintings have been exhibited and they are for sale. Passengers can enjoy the display and also purchase the paintings if they desire. 
The gallery was inaugurated in the presence of officials of the AAI, CISF and representatives of Art Mart. The art gallery will be on display for 10 days till January 2, 2017.
