Asoke Bhattacharya admonishes Modi, Didi

EOI, MALDA, 24 Dec 2016: Asoke Bhattacharya, the mayor of Left Front run Siliguri municipal corporation (SMC) today lambasted at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee while addressing a public meeting of all Bengal municipal workers’ federation here today.

Bhattacharya said, “In a bid to seize the black money the PM has caused severe hardship for the common people. We the Left parties are also in favour of seizing black money. But Narendra Modi’s technique is different. On one hand he is ensuring benefit for the multi-billionaires and on the other he is harassing the common people.”

“In the name of digital transaction the PM has left the country virtually cash-less. He has no concern for the hand to mouth people most of whom have no access to the digital world,” the SMC mayor said.

“Chief minister Mamata Banerjee has no respect for democracy. She has killed the democracy in the state. We at SMC are supposed to get Rs 150 crore from the state government. But the chief minister has kept it due only because her party was defeated time and again in democratic elections,” Bhattacharya alleged.

He said that Trinamool Congress instead of concentrating on the development of the state was busy with causing defection to opposition parties threatening or alluring the people’s representatives from other parties.

CPM district secretary Ambar Mitra, CITU leader Pranab Das and CPM youth leader Koushik Mishra were present in the meeting.
