Sen & Mukherjee produced in Siliguri, Kalimpong courts

SNS, Siliguri/Kurseong, 17 December 2014: The prime accused in the Saradha scam, Sudipto Sen, and one of the directors of the Saradha Group, Debjani Mukherjee, were produced in the Siliguri additional chief judicial magistrate’s court and the Kalimpong ACJM court, respectively, today.

Mr Sen was produced in the Siliguri court on the basis of an FIR lodged with the Siliguri police by a Siliguri resident, Uma Pal Majumdar in April last year. Ms Pal has accused Mr Sen of cheating her after she deposited Rs 1 lakh with the group.

Assistant public persecutor in Siliguri, Sudip Roy Basunia, said a case had started on the basis of the FIR.“However, the court could not transfer the case to the trial court for non-production of Debjani Mukherjee in the court today. The court ordered them to be produced after 14 days,” Mr Roy Basunia said.

Sources said Mr Sen was sent to the Alipore Central Correctional Home today. Both Mr Sen and Ms Mukherjee were brought to Siliguri. However, Ms Mukherjee was produced before ACJM, R Charkrabarty, in Kalimpong.One Uttam Bhujel had filed a complaint against Ms Mukherjee at the Kalimpong police station on April 22, 2013. Mr Bhujel has accused her of cheating under Sec 420 of the IPC.
